would be great if maximus could be set to bring up the emulator menu when pressing "esc" or even "~" or "tab".Įdit 2 - nevermind! found the controller button mapping settings in maximus, and i have an emulator switching button on the arcade cab now :) so it's using the keyboard for that at the moment.
#MAXIMUS ARCADE VS. HOW TO#
Win xp PC running maximus arcade for mame 0.179 with 0.185 roms, and runs snes and sms 0.185 roms via mame through maximus too!Ĭhanging emulators is a bit of a hassle, since on maximus you need to press "8" to bring up the emulator list and i don't have that button mapped to any of the arcade cab buttons, and don't know how to do it either.

i'm not sure why it works on my win10 PC, and it works without a front end on the win xp PC, but not via maximus on the win xp PC?Įdit - and without changing anything (other than letting it time out and power down to sleep mode, then wake back up) it now. This happens for all roms, even for snes and sms roms. if i press escape, it exits back to the maximus game list menu like normal. but before a mame splash screen appears i just get a black screen with no error message. So i try it out on the arcade cab win xp PC and it loads up with the correct game list display and all, and tries to boot into a game. 0.179 mame, with 0.185 roms, even sms and snes via mame all running through maximus front end without a problem. i first test it on my main home win10 PC, and get it working fine. it also runs sega master system and snes roms too. the closest i could easily find was 0.185 roms and that seems to be great so far. current rom sets (0.233 era) don't all work with it either. The latest mame that the PC in the cab can run is 0.179 but some of the old roms (0.136 era) don't work. so first was just running mame without a frontend:
#MAXIMUS ARCADE VS. UPDATE#
I thought i should update it though if i can. Old mame cab built by someone else (intel pent4 3ghz with 1gb ram, 32bit win xp pro) has been running mame 0.136 via maximus arcade, without any major issues for over a decade. Thanks in advance if anyone can try and help! i can't work out what the 'ambient volume' slider controls, or what the 'disable audio of the selected interface theme' check box does, but neither affect the volume of the preview movies or any rom emulation. Preferences>audio>master volume seems to just be what maximus will set the PC master volume to whenever it runs (both on start up, or returning to the front end when exiting from a rom).

#MAXIMUS ARCADE VS. MOVIE#
my preference would be: i select 'game x' (it is highlighted in maximus front end) and the movie preview starts to play silently, then when i open 'game x' it works with regular sound, then when 'game x' is closed and the maximus front end appears again no sounds will be heard again for video previews - until a new rom is opened.
#MAXIMUS ARCADE VS. FULL#
is there a way to easily mute the sounds from these videos while still having mame run with full sound during the rom emulation? eg. The other less important issue - i like the movies that play the preview of the game in the maximus front end when a game is selected but not yet opened. It's an abandoned software so getting help with it using google has been difficult so far as many people have moved on to other front ends instead.
#MAXIMUS ARCADE VS. PRO#
How do i get an updated rom database file that i can feed into maximus arcade that includes both parent and clone roms?Įdit - i think i may have figured it out, maybe by using a merged set the front end can't see the clones inside the parent? so i'm running a rebuild with clrmame pro to create a split set and will see if that fixes it.Įdit 2 - yes, split sets fixed it so that clones now show in the game list! I also opened the gamelist.xml file in notepad and saw that it only has the parent roms included, with no mention of any clone rom names.

I already looked at the preferences>options>mame>disable clones checkbox, and it doesn't seem to be the problem (the issue persists with it both checked and unchecked). My main issue is that when it builds the gamelist.xml it only seems to generate the parent rom list, with no way of finding or listing the clone roms too? I have the latest mame and merged rom set on my PC, and i've finally got maximus arcade front end to mostly work with them. overall it works pretty good, but i'm trying to get it ready to be updated since it has a very old version of mame on it (and an old rom set). I have an old DIY mame cab that someone else built running win xp which i bought off someone on ebay over a decade ago.
